Facility Fluorescent Deconvolutional Microscope
The Olympus IX81 fluorescent microscope system with a Coolsnap HQ2 photometrics camera is capable of acquiring multiple fluorescent and white light (DIC) images simultaneously. Accompanying user friendly deconvolution software allows for 3-dimensional image reconstruction and extensive image characterization (e.g. 3D modeling tools, 3D distance quantitation, pixel fluorescence quantitation, and time lapse imaging, etc.). It has advantages over confocal microscopy in that it uses much lower excitation energy for imaging (i.e. avoids phototoxicity and substantially reduces photobleaching), which is ideal for time-lapse live cell.
