Virtual Augmentation and Simulation
for Surgery and Therapy (VASST lab)
This facility, located at Robarts, comprises a high performance computing facility optimized for simulation and visualization of procedures involved in image-guided surgery and therapy. In addition, the laboratory houses a range of visualization, haptic and tracking systems as well as 2D and 3D ultrasound equipment.

The laboratory includes SGI Altix 26 processor (Itanium II) Linux computer system with six high-performance graphics pipelines, SGI Altix 64 processor Linux computer system, 2 Fakespace stereoscopic 3D display systems, MBP Freedom 6 and Phantom 6DOF haptics controllers, NDI Polaris optical tracking systems, Micron-tracker optical tracking systems, NDI Aurora magnetic tracking systems, Ascension micro-bird tracking systems, Polhemus Fast-scan surface scanner and Aloka 1700 Ultrasound system.
